Talk and performance in VR for CONNECT! at Ars Electronica (2021)

For this event, I aimed to create a literal multidimensional space. I gave this talk in Altspace VR to an international audience while being broadcast live on Instagram to my friends while being publicly viewed in the window of the Goethe Institut in Montreal. To operate in these multiple planes simultaneously was surreal.
During the VR performance, participants navigated their avatars through a virtual 3D CT Scan machine. As they progressed, they were encouraged to engage with their digital selves, experiencing each pixel being meticulously inspected and purified by the machine. This interactive journey prompted participants to contemplate the nuances of embodiment and digital identity, delving into the intricate and surreal landscape of the uncanny valley, where the lines between virtual and physical embodiment blur intriguingly.

A VR meetup series highlighting women and gender-marginalized people in the field of immersive technology
Initiated in 2020 by Sara Lisa Vogl, VR expert, artist and co-founder of Women in Immersive Tech Europe, and Goethe-Institut Montreal, these network meetings aim to highlight and virtually connect women and gender-marginalized people from Europe and North America working in the creative industries and around immersive technologies to create new international connections and foster potential cooperation.
Each meetup takes on a different focus highlighting three inspiring persons from Europe and Canada, all working at the intersection of technology, art and media while giving enough space and the possibility for attendees to network in a safe and fun virtual environment
This meetup will take ARS ELECTRONICA’s festival’s motto “A new digital deal” as a starting point to focus on subversive-creative strategies in the digital realm to empower marginalised communities with tools of creative computation and gaming.
